In an effort to capture a more holistic view of this landscape, I took multiple photos that were later stitched together to create a panorama in Photoshop. A friend suggested I cut the panel to mimic the irregular shape of the new image, I liked that and took it one step further by actually curving the panel to represent the curvature of view. The finished piece has a strong 2 dimensional quality with a very flat painting surface, but also takes on a 3 dimensional quality as the edges extend out toward you. I like this ambiguos space that the painting occupies and feel like it adds an interesting "frame" through which the more traditional subject of nature is viewed.
